INTRO

Since it’s inception in 1957. The Canadian Society of Cinematographers has provided it’s nearly 600 members with the latest in technical information as well as training and educational programs. Along with the instructive aspect of the organization, members benefit from the CSC’s associations with various industry businesses. Many of these members have gone on to play pivotal roles in major motion pictures and television programs.

This film will present an insider’s view of the cinematographer’s role, interviewing dozens of today’s most accomplished Directors of Photography in Canada, examining their work, and discussing the various other technical aspects of the craft.

In short this film will celebrate and give an appreciation of the CSC and it’s talented members.

OUTLINE

Section One

The film will be divided into two sections. The first section will deal with the history of Canadian television and film as well as the atmosphere that sparked the formation of the CSC and I.A.T.S.E. Using archival footage, photographs and a voice over, this section will give a short, introductory, historical insight to the audience.

Section Two

The second and main section of the film will deal with the responsibilities and techniques of the Cinematographer. Through interviews with some of the CSC’s top Cinematographers as well as film clips, photographs and technical information. This section will inform and entertain with a captivating pace.
